How to Choose the Right Boudoir Photographer... Even If It’s Not Me.

ree

Let me just start by saying this—I know I may not be the right boudoir photographer for everyone. And that’s okay. What’s not okay is jumping into a boudoir session with someone who isn’t the right fit for you.

Boudoir is personal. It’s vulnerable. It’s transformative when done right—but it can be incredibly damaging when done wrong. So even if you don’t book with me, I want you to feel confident in whoever you choose. Here are a few things you should absolutely do before booking a boudoir photographer:

💬 Talk to Them

Not just over email—actually talk to your photographer. You need to feel safe, seen, and supported. This isn’t just a photoshoot—it’s an experience. And trust me, that connection matters.

📸 Check Their Portfolio (And Look Beyond Pretty Pictures)

Anyone can post a couple of good shots. But do you see diversity? Do the women look genuinely confident—or like a deer in headlights? Do you see yourself in any of those photos? A seasoned boudoir photographer knows how to flatter every body type, every level of confidence, and every beautiful curve in between.

⚠️ Beware of Mini Sessions

I’ve seen boudoir "mini sessions" advertised for 10 minutes. Ten. Minutes. Let me be blunt: that’s not enough time to do this the right way. Many women spend the first 30–45 minutes of a session just settling their nerves. That’s when the real magic starts—after the anxiety fades, after they stop overthinking, after they start seeing themselves the way everyone else does

: powerful, radiant, and worthy.

You can't rush that. And you shouldn’t.

📷 Experience Matters—A Lot

Boudoir photography is not just about clicking a shutter. It’s about understanding posing, light, angles, and most importantly, how to make a woman feel comfortable and confident in her own skin. An inexperienced photographer can unintentionally pose or light you in a way that emphasizes the very things you already feel insecure about. Not because those things are flaws—but because they don’t know how to highlight your best features. And that can do more harm than good to your self-esteem.

You deserve better than that.

Boudoir should make you feel empowered—not embarrassed. It should leave you feeling sexy, strong, and beautifully seen. So whether you book with me or someone else, promise me this: do your homework. Don’t settle for cheap or fast. Book with someone who sees you the way you deserve to be seen.
